What it is

Time away that's restful, not just a roof

STA is short-term accommodation and support, funded through the NDIS, that gives you a break away from home and gives your usual carers a genuine rest. It's also a useful way to build independence and try new things in a supported setting.

We keep stays short, comfortable and focused on what you want out of them — rest, fun, building skills, or a mix of all three.

Every stay is planned with you and your family in advance, so you know what to expect and can actually relax while you're there.

Common questions

Short Term Accommodation (STA) FAQs
How many days of STA can I use each year?

NDIS typically funds STA up to 28 days per year, but the exact amount depends on your plan. We'll help you check what you have available.

Can I bring my own support worker to STA?

Usually STA includes the support you need for the stay. We'll talk through the details with you and your family so the arrangement is clear before you book.

Is STA the same as respite?

STA is the NDIS term for short-term accommodation, which is how respite is funded under the NDIS. They're essentially the same thing in practice.
